Need to remove axles to replace wheel studs. I've removed the 5/16 bolt which holds in the pin, but the pin won't come out. I've tried tapping on the end of the pin. Any help would be appreciated. John in VA.
Keep tapping it. I just got done putting the rear back together in my car, not 2 hours ago. I had a hard time getting it to go back in. I won't go thru all the way as it will hit the inside, but enough to where you can grab it with some pliers....
Just wondering if this is normal. I'll try again. Probably wait until my studs arrive from JEGS the middle of the week though. Thanks for your reply. John in VA.
it is a common problem for the end of the bolt to break off inside the pinion pin.....aka spider gear pin.........the bolt will only have about a half inch of threads and the rest will be a 1/8 th inch round pin you need to make sure the whole bolt came out................also the spider gear could have a groove worn in it preventing the pin from sliding out.....................
