Door Latch

Anyone out there tried the aftermarket door latches? Considerably cheaper than the OEM. Or just go OEM? Only need the right side for now.

Thanks

Re: What did U do to your G-body today??

Put it in storage today until next spring. Was able to find a new place for the same money. A little further away but still dirt cheap. Will barter some of the expense but still well worth it.

Re: UMI solid rear bar w/Ford 9"?

Spohn was very considerate and took back their bar and control arms for a full refund, minus shipping of course. Too bad the bar didn't fit my setup quite right, pieces were nice quality. If my housing had been "centered" rather than "pinion centered", it would have fit just fine. "Thumbs up" to Spo...

Re: UMI solid rear bar w/Ford 9"?

Wow, nice work and attention to detail! Seems I gotta do things numerous times before I get things right anymore ](*,) Being retired and having more time than I ever had before you'd think things would be the opposite. I have brake line tabs welded to the housing at about the same area your clamps a...

Re: UMI solid rear bar w/Ford 9"?

Ordered, received and installed the 1" rear sway bar and LCA arms from Spohn. Not exactly happy with the fit. It bolted right up no problem without interference with the housing. Short of putting two people in the back seat and an even lower ride height, it seems as though it would be okay. Appearan...

Re: Column difference 3 speed/200r4??

Was finally able to get a little more info on the differences between the overdrive and standard 3-speed auto shift columns. Below is a picture of the shift gate that is in every auto shift column whether OD or not. My source tells me this is the only shift gate he has ever seen used in these (78-83...

Re: UMI solid rear bar w/Ford 9"?

I know Spohn advertises a picture of their bar under a gbody with a 9" somewhere on the interweb. Alittle more $$ of course. I currently have Spohn DA LCA's that have no provisions for a bar mounting so I'd need to change bars out also.

Re: UMI solid rear bar w/Ford 9"?

It does. Seems to me that's why I never installed one long ago. I also believe 7/8"?? was the largest offering from GM for these cars. Maybe someone from UMI can chime in later. Thanks melloelky!

UMI solid rear bar w/Ford 9"?

Anyone know if UMI's solid rear sway bar fit the early small bearing Ford 9" housing contour without interference? Have done on site searches about the question but posts don't seem to appear or exist anymore?? I assume it will but wanna be sure. I'd prefer the stock mounted bar rather than the drag...

Re: Short rear shocks??

Managed to get to O'Reilly's and picked up a pair of Monroe gas charged Plus (#32230) rear shocks (18.125" long) for a 90 Aerostar 2WD. Pushed out both 12mm center bushings and rubbers separately. Pushed out the TBar/rubber (together) and lower rubber from the 20.8" stock length KYB's. The KYB lower...

Re: Short rear shocks??

Thanks Greg for the info and pictures. Got side tracked alittle with the need for a carb overhaul after winter storage. I'm going to give your idea a shot and will get to O'reilly's later today. Steve
