Re: regal instrument cluster question

I put a Regal dash in my El Camino, but I also did the turbo motor swap. Still not complete, the front lighting/horn harness and rear lighting harness look like some pinouts need to be changed around a bit. I'm looking for detailed wiring diagrams for both vehicles but no luck just yet. I can tell y...

That's a good tip about the edges, one that I can't be certain I've tried.

Re: El Camino EFI

Let me share my personal experiences on this sublect. I bought a 22 gallon tank, new straps, and a new sender from rockauto. After I made the purchase, and paid, I got a notice from them advising the sender was discontinued. I ultimately found one at Dixie MonteCarlo, but it was very expensive. A bi...

Re: Is it a G-body thing or is it my car? (rear not centered)???

Where are you taking your measurements from? If you are measuring from the fender to the axle flange, instead of axle flange to frame, you might be seeing the body being off center of the frame. It's possible to move the body around on the frame a bit, perhaps you can adjust it to provide uniform me...

Re: "Blitz Black" Info Link

I'm wondering....can you sand defects out of the finish? I've never painted a car, but with the shops wanting over $3k to paint a 5th gen El Camino I might give it a try. I like the black satin look, but what about maintaining the finish? Obviously you wouldn't wax it. How would one keep it spot an...

Re: Things I'd do different if I did another LT1 swap

Perhaps a tank from the 86/87 El Camino. They came with a TBI set up. The tanks are available, but the sender that contains the in tank pump is hard to find.

Re: 6-71 vs 8-71 for BBC?

If this is to be a streeter like you say, all the expensive go fast parts aren't going to be that much help, will it? A sub 1.5 short time is great, but you won't need it to wow the local Dairy Queen import crowd. For that you need visiuals, and while any blower through the hood looks cool, IMHO a b...

Re: "Blitz Black" Info Link

Also, should I paint it while the front clip is off and apart? Seems like the best way to get to the door hinge area, inside of the fenders, and the like.

Re: Suggestions for stock location set-up

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. Stock location for what? Rear end? Front ball joints? You mentioned 'drag' car. Does that mean a true drag car, or a sometimes street car too? Drag cars can get away with spherical rod ends, which work well, don't bind, and are adjustable too, but you wo...

Re: Difference in drop spindle, and drop springs

If you really want weight transfer and improved hook, do it like the old gassers and put a tube axle under it. I've never seen a G body done that way.

Re: going to rear body mount city

It's pretty straightforward, but let me share my experience. I researched and followed the advice I recieved. I did one side at a time. The pass side was uneventful, but the drivers side was not. To make a long story short, the e brake cable wouldn't allow me to lift the body high enough to get to t...

[quote="MyBU"]This car has to be streetable, yet potent. So id say probably about 500hp would do the trick on a $4000 budget if I go naturally aspirated.
