Re: 79 MoreDoor SS

kewl_pics.gif That's definitely one of the cooler 4-dr Malibus that I've seen in awhile. Nice ride. Did it start life as an Iraqi cab? I know they were built in Canada. One of my buddy's up in Ontario owned a few. Actually Iraqi taxis were standard (3-spd) transmission cars.

Thank you, Chris, for all your hard work and keeping this site afloat. It's much appreciated. It obviously needed a new transfusion. =D>

I'm also a veteran member, although I haven't been on the site for quite some time. I'm still sad to hear about the site winding down. This was the first site that I was a member on.

Re: 79 door glass channel guide availibility??

Check with Danno Enterprises. You can find most of the replacement run channels except for the front door upright pieces. They're a peculiar shape...OEM only. I was lucky to find one NOS channel for the left side, the right channel had to be pieced together.

Re: 1978-80 cutlass cruiser header panel on 1982 cutlass cru

Tommy,
He's looking to put a dual headlight header panel on a quad headlight car. So he should have no problem bolting on the dual headlight header panel. No modification necessary.

Re: What body mods would you do to your car (if any)?

Chris, I will probably consider the stainless product instead of chrome paint. It looks like cool stuff, but I also heard that it ain't cheap. The Thomas' stuff is a lot more cost effective, plus if I do f@#@ it up, I can probably scuff it up and go over it again. Now you got me thinking whether we ...

Re: What body mods would you do to your car (if any)?

Thanks Chris, I wouldn't be opposed to using a few aerosols. The bumpers are primed with 2K urethane. They've been sanded with a DA using 80 grit paper, etch primed for tooth...no sealer yet. It sounds like a pretty cool product to me. You also mentioned Spectra Chrome. Is that the chrome paint that...

Re: What body mods would you do to your car (if any)?

Hey, thank you Chris. That looks like some interesting stuff. Have you ever used it before, or know someone that has? It looks like that might achieve the look that I'm after. I've never heard of that product before until now. A pint of base, and a pint of clearcoat should be more than enough to do ...

Re: What body mods would you do to your car (if any)?

Thanks Chris, I was possibly thinking about a muted silver, or platinum/ champagne color for the bumpers. I would like a brushed stainless look, but unless I can achieve the look with paint, it ain't happening. I thought if the silver/ platinum/ champagne color is too shiny, I can shoot some matt fi...

Re: What body mods would you do to your car (if any)?

Hi Brian, Yes, the car now has an '81 header panel on it. I opted for a change of pace. I still have the '79 header panel. I think it will become garage art...or I'll sell it. I'm trying to picture the '69-'72 GP door handles. :-k I'll do a search on the web. Have you found another car? I think you ...

Re: What body mods would you do to your car (if any)?

I narrowed, tucked, and raised the bumpers. Shaved the bumper bolts. Ground the stock door handles flat and painted them body color. That was a simple mod that didn't require any surgery to the door skins. I still need to paint the bumpers, but I'm leaning away from the monochromatic look. I painted...

Re: Butyl tape thickness for windows?

Dave, Apparently urethane caulk is the chosen method to glue in windshield...and quarter windows in our cars. Several years back, I installed a windshield in my old Porsche 914. I laid in butyl tape and put the windshield in.. then used butyl or urethane caulk around the perimeter of the windshield....

Re: Butyl tape thickness for windows?

Thanks for your advice, Chris. I somehow had my doubts that my local body supply would have this type of tape. Like you suggested, an automotive glass supply would be the ticket. A couple of suction cup tools would also come in handy, and make it easier to handle the glass. I will pick your brain ag...
