Re: Roller cam/lifters

If hey are the morels or lunati, or howards, look into hydraulic roller oil on the internet. Chris Straub has put multiple posts about the "right" oil to use in them.

Re: drag race tips

2 things off the bat you can do is to install adjustable travel limiters in the front end and slow the front end rise of the front shocks. A 90/10 shock is not helping the issue with having no resistance to front end rise, and most likely a decent amount of stored energy in the front spring helping ...

Re: cooling the Bu

hey Guys and Gals. Last year I installed dual electric fans on the 81 Malibu. I found out the adjustable fan switch didn't adjust, they where ether on or off. So I bought new switch Hayden #3653). Now they come on and off when I want them to. Setting in the shop the fans cool the Bu all day, But dr...

Re: roll bar questions

You don't need the plates on the frame. The plates are only for a unibody installation. The bottom of the tube can be contoured to match the frame. IF the welder is really interested, he can fabricate a box on the frame to give himself a flat surface to weld the tube to. As far as the floor, just we...

Re: glass bumpers

On my 70, I used the factory brackets. I would eliminate all of the safety reinforcements and use the factory mounts. Nothing special.

Re: Best bang for the buck front suspension?

Don't overthink the front. Stock arms are fine. The idea is loose movement and sufficient travel. I went 8.80's with my 70 Chevelle with stock rubber bushings, stock control arms, and single adjustable Strange shocks up front with Moroso trick springs. 1.21 60' time.

What does your car weigh? Mine was 3180 and I used both the 130 and 138 springs in mine.

Re: rear shocks

What kind of setup are you using? If its a stock suspension car, I think I would go with a Strange adjustable shock and leave the spring in the stock location. I still haven't gotten on board with putting the weight of the car on the lower shock mount. If you are going to put a dedicated upper shock...

Re: Which BBC gen IV oil pan

I have a moroso 7 qt kickout pan. i use 6 qt of oil in it. Dyno shop guys have told me that running the full 7 qt costs alot of power. I also run a stock gm vortec starter. When i had the 2241 headers this pan was a pain for oil filter clearance. Now with Lemons headers its fine. The only thing i d...

Re: What is the real answer for a 12 bolt swap???

72 chevelle was the last year for the 12 bolt as far as I know. So you may want to confirm what car that rear is from. And if it was modified to fit the 73.

The gear will make it completely different animal. I had a stock 7.5 with whatever gear in it. Went to a 3.73 Monte SS 7.5 and the car picked up a full second in 1/4 ET.

They may be metric. I forget the number off hand. When I converted from my 79 rear to a Monte SS rear it needed metric nuts.

Re: Backhalf Rear End Settup

Don't restrict the car to any one size tire. If you are backhalving the car, then do it to fit a common tire. So set the rails and tubs up to accommodate a big tire, like a 15X33 so that way either you or someone that buys the car can use a big tire just by modifying wheel backspace. But for your go...
