Re: Front Brakes Locking Up

Thanks for responding. 235-60X15's all around, semimetallic pads, the rear wheel cylinders were changed to those used on S-10s with manual brakes., the frt calipers are stock. The rear brakes are working as when the drums were pulled there was brake dust. Going to check to see what's the rear line p...

Front Brakes Locking Up

Seems like the proportioning valve is too much bias toward the front. The frt brakes are locking up much too easily.

Has anyone out there have a similar problem and could verify that it's the proportioning valve?

Thanks

Re: Starter Engages with Key Removed from Column

Guess the solution was common knowledge. Definitely got my attention when the key was turned to "off" and the starter kept spinning.

Re: Starter Engages with Key Removed from Column

Checking it out last evening, the wiring by both the starter and ign switched looked okay. The terminal back up and the starter still working fine. Be removing the starter this weekend, thinking that there's a solenoid problem.

Starter Engages with Key Removed from Column

Stopping for fuel last night, had this wacky thing happen driving back to Maryland with the Malibu. Upon restart the bendix drive would not disengage from the flex plate, was just spinning the mtr, no matter what position the key was at. Luckily was able to disconnect the battery + side cable relati...

Re: GM ZZ4 Camshaft

ZZ3 and ZZ4 use cam # 10185071. This cam has less duration than earlier ZZ mtrs (208/221 @.050) vs 235/235. LSA are also different, 112 vs 114 Using this cam, as it's a roller, it's mild, and the idle has a very slight chop. For a cruise night ride, you may want to look for something a little wilder.

Re: No High Beams

I'll check it out. The parts in the pic look somewhat familiar, as the steering column was partially disassembled years ago to replace the look cylinder and directional switch assembly.

Thanks again for the info.

Re: No High Beams

Thanks for the pic. Correct it is a tilt wheel.

Appears that the same amount of disassembly is required as if the directional switch assembly was being replaced.

No High Beams

Felt something snap when trying for the high beams. Searched around and found out that there's a plastic finger that engages the rod that is in the column that I suppose activates the high beam switch. Things were a lot simpler when there use to be the foot switch on the left side of the floor board...

Re: LS vs 406

Think the normal rountine is to deck, then bore. The machine shop certainly would know the procedure.

Re: sbc hydraulic roller cam for a/c??????

The zz series camshaft would have a step nose cam for roller blocks instead of a retrofit that does not. Forgot about the step machined into the frt journal. At any rate, a 350 cid mtr with the zz4 series cam, ZZ4 heads, dual plane intake has sufficient power to tolerate the load of the compressor ...

Re: sbc hydraulic roller cam for a/c??????

Find that the cam used in the ZZ series crate mtrs is acceptable with AC. I use the stock solenoid that raises the rpms when the compressor is engaged. The solenoid should be used with whatever cam is used.

Re: Malibu Classic Body Molding

Eddies78, The Malibu looks great. Can only find molding made by Trimgard of Canada. Ribbed Roof found some 3M NOS 1 1/4 wide molding which is probably a better choice than using Trimgard. I'm using what I have and the body shop will paint it to match the tan colored pin stripping, although it's not ...

Re: Malibu Classic Body Molding

If you notice the Malibu for the month picture, there's a '78 landua with the correct body molding that looks in great condition and assune that it's new.

Wonder where he obtained the molding?

Re: looking for 78-79 header panel

There's a header for sale in the "For Sale" sub forum posted by T0-1blaze. It wouldn't hurt to ask him if he would ship. Looing at the poster's pics, the header appears complete, except that the bezels for the side marker lamp housings aren't shown, although he may have them as well. If not. I have ...
