For 1978, deluxe color keyed seat belts were an extra cost option, standard equipment were black.

Re: They're still out there.....

If it was local and I could see it in person, I would seriously consider it at $6500, good undorked-with examples are getting tough to find, and I prefer not to have to fix the butchery that usually comes with lower priced cars. Supposedly 78s all got black belts. The 78 wagon I have here has black ...

Re: Door Glass - where do I find good used or new replacemen

Next question: How many different tints did the Malibu come OEM with? I found this, but confusion still reigns.... http://phscollectorcarworld.blogspot.co.nz/2013/10/date-coding-car-window-glass.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Came as either clear or tint. A/C cars generally wer...

Re: Electronic HVAC retrofit into G-Body

After seeing the failures on these and the Ford actuators (wife's Flex is on it's third one in 3 years), I'll be sticking with the old reliable cable for the blend door and hope for the best on the simple G body mode switch. Hopefully, you won't encounter the failures we're seeing....those later con...

Re: 3-link using uca 'ears'... strength?

The SSM kit would work, but after buying them for $400, and paying to narrow housing and axles, I would think you'd be close to a G body 8.5....at least in areas where they turn up for sale

Cool that you found it!

The black accent isn't helping it's looks, IMO....much better as sold

Re: Sweep style gauge bezel.

The sweep style "bucket" is different than the round gauge bucket. The bezels will not interchange on the bucket.

Where you located? I have a good sweep bucket and bezel.

Re: What did U do to your G-body today??

Discovered that a previous owner had put a screw with a chunk of heater hose as a gasket in the fuel tank lower corner...apparently to stop a pinhole leak. So yeah, ordered a new tank after discovering another weepy spot next to it. Weird part....I have owned it a week shy of a year, and it...

Re: 1979 Malibu - Heat Control

Heat only cars did not get a water shutoff valve, only the cars with A/C had them installed, and they were vacuum operated when A/C was selected.

No reason you couldn't put a manual valve in the inlet hose to the heater core if you need to keep hot coolant out of the core.

Re: Malibu 2 door Real Lower Quarter Patch Panels

As flat as they are, they'd be pretty simple for a decent metalman to fabricate. The repro lowers I've dealt with on other cars fall way short of correct profile on the bottom anyway. I do know a guy that scrapped a 79 sedan and I believe he kept the rear of the quarters. They are the same as a coup...
