Re: Internal Tank Baffles

How about using an Aeromotive Stealth pump system? I just installed one in my Wagon's new gas tank and it is a well though out, well made setup. I am very happy with it.

Re: Dash removal question

It's been a while since I had a dash out, but I'm pretty sure you HAVE TO take the instrument cluster out to access a couple fasteners behind it. It's not too hard. Everything is routed to one large "connector" that is really just a rectangular opening with the printed circuit board draped over both...

Re: Column shift bracket removal?

I never had problems doing what I suggested. I've done it twice. I forgot about the key interlock. I think I just set mine in "park" and cut off the tab on the column. No real reason to touch it again after that. I painted mine semi-gloss black when I was done, and it looked great. I wish I took pic...

Re: Column shift bracket removal?

If you're permanently changing over to a floor-mounted shifter, it's not ever going to be needed, so cut the bracket off and grind it flat with the column. If you'd EVER go back to a column shifter, just leave it on there. You barely see it anyways.

Re: Column shift bracket removal?

I did this twice already, and it works great. I cut the piece that holds the shifter lever as close as possible to the column body. I grind it just below level. I JB WELD a piece of steel bent to look kind of like a big staple (if you can picture that) and glue that into the hole just short of flush...

Re: What did U do to your G-body today??

Does blowing sawdust off of them count towards "working" on them, lol? I had to cut some boards yesterday and put a nice layer of sawdust on both of them in the garage. Whoops.

Re: HOOD FITMENT

Yes, any year Malibu hood is interchangeable with any other. I think all years of fenders interchange as well, but the side marker positions may be different.

Re: They're still out there.....

Wow. That's really nice! HATE the bumper impact strips though. GM ruined a pretty bumper by putting those on there, if you ask me. I love the wheels too! Whoever buys that one better keep it stock.

Re: What did U do to your G-body today??

Still getting situated in my new garage/home, so it's going slow. Nice to at least have 2 of my cars under one roof! Was going to bring my wagon home, but it's been VERY cold here the past couple weeks (like lows in the NEGATIVE teens at night, with highs during the day between 0 and 6). Next nice d...

Re: Stall converter slipping? ?????'s

Depending what the 700R4 trans came out of, the stock converter's stall will vary. Believe it or not, most stock, replacement, non-performance converters can stall anywhere from 900-1300 rpm. If I were you, I would replace the gears with maybe 3.23 or 3.42 gears. My wagon's got the same transmission...

Re: Stall converter slipping? ?????'s

Don't use that converter! You are going to burn up another transmission. That black and grey stuff you saw was your clutch material. Think of it in terms of comparing your automatic to a manual transmission. You have a numerically low gear (2.41) and a high stall converter, designed to give you grea...

Re: Stall converter slipping? ?????'s

Of course the transmission is slipping. You are running a 2000 rpm stall converter with stock 2.41:1 gears? Why would you do that? There is not enough mechanical advantage in the rear axle to take advantage of the higher stall. You are creating excess heat in the trans, and it won't last too long. C...

Didn't you notice right away that the transmission wasn't going into overdrive, because there was no overdrive?

Re: What did U do to your G-body today??

FINALLY fired up the wagon after about a month being apart. Not much time these days. Ran good. Set timing to 10* to get a little more out of her. Distributor looks to be rotated quite a bit, so I think she's a tooth off. Either tomorrow or the weekend, going to loosen up the clamp and move it over ...

Re: What did U do to your G-body today??

Spent the day carving pumpkins and lounging with the kids...it's been raining since 6 AM, and the garage where my wagon is doesn't have electricity, so I have to push it out to work on it. I hope tomorrow is better...
