Re: 79 MoreDoor SS

A little late, but you're a bit of a youngster, aren't you? I seem to remember seeing pictures of this at one point and you were still in high school?

Also, hi the rest of ya! Glad to see you're still around :D I'm not near forum-active as I used to be anymore [-X ](*,) :-({|=

Re: Still at it.

Good to see 8) Maybe I'm remembering wrong but wasn't it for sale at some point? I haven't frequented the G-Body world near as much the past many years.

Re: What did U do to your G-body today??

Doober, Madge is still a "Driveway Eliminator". Things have been slim for us. I lost my job a year ago last June, then lost the new job last July. Normally I do a Holiday Club with my bank and it's my total car budget for the year, but this year it might just go to pay bills. Tommy Ditto on the dri...

Re: What did U do to your G-body today??

I started mine last week and a short spin around the block, felt good :D The tires are pretty hard, so more than about 2/3 throttle in 2nd gear made it start to spin  I sadly haven't gotten much of anything done on it, but my plans have evolved to an LS/T56/8.5" setup. I have the B-Body 8.5 rea...

Re: 8.5

https://i.imgur.com/H1PwoOR.jpg '94 was when they changed to the "bubble" from the "box" ('80s to the '90s style that looks like the Impala SS). I've read anything '77-'96 bolts up to each other, telling me the ears/mounts are the same on all the assemblies, but they will have different options. Th...

Re: 8.5

I was going to put a thread up for it but this is here so I'll put it here too, since I picked up a B-Body 8.5 for super cheap some years ago. SSM actually makes a set of swap arms to bolt it in, but I don't know how much misalignment there is... I'm guessing it's on the upper ears, correct? If they...

Re: factory 8.5 30 spline posi?

I'm planning on a Detroit Truetrac whenever I build the 8.5 I have. No clutches and should hold up fine for the street, if I raced I would probably get the Detroit Locker, to my understanding it's stronger than the Truetrac. https://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/products/differentials-traction-control/afte...

Re: Borg Warner t56

Late to the show, but there is an adapter to mount a T56 to the old school bellhousing... you just need an LS style input shaft (easily changed) and an extended pilot bushing. This way you can use stock G-Body bellhousing and clutch mechanicals. You should be able to just use a regular 153-tooth fly...

I think it's public to view but you have to join... spammers kept joining while it was open to everyone and ads for phones, clothes and other useless stuff... likely bots. I made it join by request to cut down on that number.

Re: Doober?????????

Howdy :D Yeah, mostly life stuff and other things carrying on, I'm usually more active on FB since you can just pull it up on your phone easy peasy compared to most forums that aren't always friendly (never really cared for Tapatalk for some reason). I still have my '78, it's just been on the back b...

Re: Stopped by to say hi, place is looking a little empty.

Hey I'm still around! I just haven't visited a forum since... well... the Facebook boom. For better or worse I made a group and labeled it MR with the same banner in hopes people would use both the forum and FB... instead it's grown a mind of its own and currently it's at 13,900 members !!! Re: SAE20 Motor oil for Trans. fluid????

Interesting to read...

My Fiero uses 5w-20 in the 282 Getrag, says so right on the dipstick plug... almost 190k on the car (probably trans too?) and it still shifts just fine.

Re: Help!!! drivetrain noises?

You said it happened after installing the rear... it doesn't happen with suspension motion (thinking bushings)? Have you tried spraying a light lubricant around the yoke seal area? Just a thought if the seal for the yoke is making noise, if it's still making a u-joint type sound with new u-joints.
