Re: My Pro Touring conversion

Its a blast to drive. Just got a new cam to match the build right. Should compliment the heads and make better power. Chris Straub grind. Solid roller. 240/242 @.050 .630 lift.

Re: My Pro Touring conversion

Its not very Pro Touring looking. But it sure does handle a million times better than before. I have a little over 600 miles on the build. Its so different than before. 3.50 gears are perfect. Cam is getting replaced to mach the new build. Went with Chris Straub on a solid roller to match heads, wei...

shoedoos wrote:good info on the Fitech, cheers...did you need to spec the cam to the injection, or is it the same one used with the carb?
Same cam. Mild 231/238 @ .050 .610/.600 LSA 111. I make about 13" of vacuum. In the 496 it has great low end grunt. Rev limiter set at 6K.
Its really responsive.

Re: My Pro Touring conversion

The Fitech fuel injection is amazing. I did the basic setup on the Mean Street 800 and then modified only 2 settings. My warm idle and idle AFR. What a great system. Works fantastic out of the box. Only thing I dont like is return to idle is very slow. But this too can be tuned out. On the Fitech bo...

Re: My Pro Touring conversion

Thursday I took the car to get the exhaust done properly. Car is on the road. Friday I drove in and out of the driveway. Worked out a few kinks. Saturday I drove around the neighborhood. More kinks removed. Sunday I drove across town and back. More kinks to iron out. http://i951.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: My Pro Touring conversion

First drive went wrong. Backed out of driveway and drove right back in. Timing somehow got retarded. Must not have tightened the distrib hold down amd was Bad enough to light a plug wire on fire. The key lock got stuck in the on position. I had to disassemble the steering column to remove it. Not ev...

Re: My Pro Touring conversion

It Runs. Started on the first try, fired up instantly. New FiTech fuel injection system does not like the open headers. After a couple minutes it learned that the O2 sensor is right at the collector dump and it made a bold adjustment. The 20.4 AFR made it run pretty bad. I honestly am surprised it r...

Re: My Pro Touring conversion

Jeff, good to see you back at it! Last thing I remember about your car was that it was for sale. Several years ago. Probably around the same time I came close to selling mine lol I actually sold it Bill. To a kid in the Air Force. I checked up on him twice a year. In the 3rd year I started to peste...

Re: My Pro Touring conversion

I just wish they were 2" primaries, 3.5" collectors and were full length... Tommy I bought the 2241s and ran them for bit. I lost noticeable low end torque and off idle response. I like all my grunt low...all in before 6K. My build is too mild for them. Only thing I changed was stroke and heads. Ca...

Re: My Pro Touring conversion

What is the difference between the 2 pedals? I have finally bled the new system. Tilton master @.700 diameter. And the new pedal effort can be depressed by hand. Excellent throwout bearing movement. SickSpeedMonte is excellent. I really wish I could have used his kit. It just won't clear the header...
