Re: Disconnecting neg. at battery

No, not at all.

EXCEPT-
If you do the positive first there is a chance that the uninsulated wrench can hit a ground and make alot of sparks.
If you wrench on the negative first and the wrench hits ground, no matter.

Just a safety issue is the reason for positive first.

Carpet, carpet and more carpets!

I have a 79 Malibu 2 door with a stock code 62 Camel tan interior that needs a new carpet. I am just looking for the stock replacement. No thick nap or mass backing. I have searched around and found the following. What can anybody offer about these or any other places to help me make the right purch...

Re: Floor to firewall seam question

You should be fine. I have pulled and installed several motors and transmission combinations in my wagon without ever trimming the lip. It just makes life a little easier during installation, and makes getting at the bolts easier if you ever pull separately . YES it does! I trimmed mine back for th...

Re: Any ides where to find........???

I made my own aluminum plate to put gauges in the center vent opening. The dash has a curve but my plate is flat. The flat plate and curved dash play together nicely. Re: Trunk Emblem

After measuring it this morning I kinda looked at it again this afternoon. Again, I have a 79 and the "Chevrolet" emblem is perfectly centered between the reverse and outer brake light. BTW- I am the second owner. The first was my dad. I know this is how it came from the factory. Not being a wise gu...

Re: Trunk Emblem

On my 79 the farthest edge of the "T" (the top horizontial) is 2.5" from the edge of the trunk.
The bottom of the "T" is 2 1/8" from the bottom of the trunk edge.

Re: Help me decide steering wheel choice

I'm the same way with the 4 spoke, kinda OCD about that. I'm pretty certain I'm going to get the 2nd one from the top. I think that should fit the look I'm going for. My friend Jeff has that wheel in his 70 Vette. It has a lot less dish than the GM 14" three spoke Vette wheel he had before, so you ...

Re: Help me decide steering wheel choice

I like the 4 spoke too. I've had a 4 spoke Grant in the Malibu for years and I like it just fine. HOWEVER, mine is 1 piece of aluminum cutout. I've driven some cars with aftermarket 4 spoke wheels where there are 2 pieces of metal that make the 4 spokes. It's not a huge deal but I personally really ...

Re: choke voltage - 4 volts?

Check the oil pressure switch. It feeds the choke heater. It may be a source of resistance, but not enough to make the oil/check engine light come on. Tommy Agreed. I was going to ask...Are you checking the voltage with the engine running? If the engine is not running (to close the oil pressure swi...

Re: Emission compatible 4 barrel intake for 4.3

A long time ago I ran a Holley 300-34 intake with the matching 0-9694 carb on a 79 200 V-6. I think they no longer produce the intake, not sure of the carb. I don't recall if it had EGR provisions or not.
Sorry this does not really help answer your question but it's all I know.

Re: frame interchange

Let me put a fact here. To the point... I put a frame from a 78 Buick Regal Turbo under my 79 Malibu. Almost perfect fit. The small exeption was that the front of the frame was about 2" longer and made the bumper stick out weird. I drilled and compressed the bumper shocks (which was easier than sect...
