Re: Malibu Racing LIVES!

Hi There, I'm definitely glad to see some new interest in Malibu Racing! I had a lot of fun, learned quite a bit and got some great deals on parts hanging out on here over the years, I've been popping in from time to time to see if anything was going on and it just made me sad to see there wasn't ha...

Re: major muncie issue

It can be welded but you'll need to gut the trans as Aluminum transfers heat to the extreem,it should also be bolted to a steel bellhousing or steel plate to make shure the mating surface is flat after welding,But a Super Case is deffinatly the way to go! I'd have one if I could afford it!! Good Luc...

Re: Tach and Oil Pressure Guage questions

Hey Doober, I meant to tell you about an interesting bit of Malibu trivia,I changed the heater core in the 78 the other day,Ac car, when I went to put it back together I decided to do it right and seal the box top to the bottom with fresh strip caulk since I happen to have some, well anyway it takes e...

Re: Tach and Oil Pressure Guage questions

Thanks Man,
I'll look at all that stuff but I have a Monte SS dash to stick in there for the V-8,I might as well have a Tach that don't work for now as opposed to a clock that'll never work!! I've just got way to many projects
these days!! Later On!! KillerDave

Re: Tach and Oil Pressure Guage questions

Hey Doober, How ya been? I thought my question might bring you around!! That comlicated for the tach huh? Well I'm going to end up with the Tuned Port 267 I've been threatening to build in this car eventually any way so it won't be a big deal then,I thought if it were something easy, well you know! A...

Re: Lowered=Rubbing what size tires??? ZQ8's

Where exaxtly do the tires rub? Wheels straight fender lip? If so you don't have enough back space, are they 8" rims or 7" rims, rubbing on anti-sway bar or on the frame behind the front axle centerline? Depends on where the rub is as to where the problem is,The best I personally have done is a 15"x7"...

Re: Need Help Selecting a Front Spring

Sounds to me a new set of 5608s should do the trick but as you already well know when you're playing modification games there are no firm answers, you just say by my calculations this should work fine and then go with it,pray and keep your fingers crossed and see what happens, there's one cat on here,...

Re: 1978 cutlass original 5 speed

I don't know what a Salon is,rear wheel drive or front? If it's a cool car (rear drive) it's worth restoring, repairing or playing with, very few manual trans G-bodies? I have two,Malibus actualy, one factory and one conversion and there are bunches more out there,T50 trans is a paperweight and that is...

Re: swapping from bench to bucket seats

So i can use the mounting points where the bench seat already bolts & just make mounting points by the tunnel for both sides? That would be correct,as has been stated the best thing to do is find a donor G-body with buckets and remove the tunnel mounts the outers by the doors are identicle, bench or...

Re: Battery Charge

If the starter works it's fine,I'm guessing everything in the car works untill you run out of juice due to the alternator not charging? Those things are so simple it is either a bad alternator or something in the field wiring (small two prong plug) as far as I remember the big red 10ga wire goes to ...
