G-body, Malibu chassis creative expertise needed

The car is totally rust-free. I 'm not sure of the weight difference between the stock floor and sheet metal panels. I was also thinking rattles would be held to a minimum with the factory rear floor vs sheetmetal rivets. The chassis guy actually suggested it, he said it would be no problem to...

G-body, Malibu chassis creative expertise needed

Hello, I will never claim to know it all. I am gathering ideas and am in need of peoples' past experience along with some creativity. I have a bone stock rust-free 78' Malibu that will be going into the chassis shop within the next 3-4 months. I want to do a 25.5 cage and big tire back half...

9 inch options. Need help deciding

Any options to harsh, noisy spherical metal bushings? This car will be a full interior street car. I'd rather hear the engine or even the radio than clunking suspension bushings..

9 inch options. Need help deciding

Have a goal of building "somewhat of a sleeper" I plan on running a pump-gas 496 in a 10-inch tire malibu, steel heads, dual-plane intake 4150 carburetor, cheapy chrome steel valve covers, possibly column shift, 2-tone paint. I want it to look like a 12 second car. However It should really be...

    Still stuck on cam choice

A lot of expertise on speedtalk forum. I recommend talking to "Camking" Mike Jones over there. FWIW I put one of his dinky hydraulic cams in my crate 260hp 350 chevy engines. I got 33 more horsepower with no other mods and 3-4 mpg! He loves to challenge "shelf grinds" and factory...

    Malibu BBC header budget alternatives

Hello, I am in need of a set of bbc small tube full length headers for a 78' malibu. I DON'T NEED THE 2241'S. Years ago I used a set of hedmans from swap meet that needed some minor massaging but fit well there afterwards. I believe they fit everything from 70-73camaro, 68-72chevelle and...

priming question engine with a solid roller

This is a dumb question but,,, my friend has a big bock chevy with a comp solid roller and lifters. How does the oil get to the rockers? Does it travel up the center of the pushrod through the rocker hole just like a hydraulic or does it rely on splash? I have been priming the engine for 10...

    1978 malibu spindles

I have heard that 1978 chevy malibu spindles are a one year only and that 1979-1983 are the same. Is this true? I need a driver side spindle for my 78' malibu and i am trying to save a little time and possible headache. Thanks, Matt.

    Big Block Intake reccomendation

There was a guy who put a 10'' tire 3700 lb 69 chevelle in the 10.30-10.40 range with this cam, ported heads, ang rpm air gap intake. Comp list this power band of this cam at 2500-6500 rpm's. My experience has been that powerbands on cams are usually good for 2-400 rpm over avertised rpm range.

    Big Block Intake reccomendation

I see,, however the 454 r is a rectangular port intake. He has 781 oval port heads. I have seen people mismatch between intake and cylinder port design. Howeve are there any drawbacks to this??

    Big Block Intake reccomendation

My friend is building a 468 bbc. Some details are 3600 lbs w/driver 4.11 gears, turbo 400, 781 oval port heads w/ 2.19x1.88 heads 10:1 compression, 17/8 headers, 3500 stall with a comp .623 lift solid roller. My question is,,, what would be the best oval port intake for a 2500-7000 rpm power...
