    CORRECT G-body frame info

The Malibu has it's own frame and it's the same for Coupe and Sedan. The G-body Wagon has different rear rails and body mounts. The El Camino has a longer wheelbase. The Monte Carlo, Regal, Cutlass, Grand Prix & Grand Am have longer front frame horns because of the longer nose and are known as a...

    78 armrests different than 79-81?

I just picked up two saddle tan armrests at Carlisle. They're marked "78 Malibu" & they looked like the right ones, but they're shaped a little differently. They're not "square" at the back where they meet the plastic part of the armrest molded into the door panel, they're angled. Anyone know if...

Driver side sedan interior plastic pillar question

Brand new 3.8 L GM crate engine

I may have a line on a complete, 0 mile GM 3.8 litre V6. IDK if it's a Buick or a Chevy yet, but it's supposed to a fuel injection engine for 80's cars. If anyone is interested in it, just let me know & I'll look into it deeper. Tommy

    Hooker 2241's with hydraulic clutch??

Anybody running a hydraulic clutch with Hooker 2241 headers? I saw a 496 Malibu with a Muncie in it this weekend & the primary tube that runs near the brake booster was HAMMERED to clear the clutch master cylinder where it comes out of the firewall. Just for reference I'll be running the McLeod...

    70 LT1 Vette "B Production" project

Jeff's 70 LT1 4 speed convertible (the one in my signature) went into the bodyshop last week. He's redoing the entire body, including replacing the windshield frame & getting L88 flares. We're going to be upgrading the suspension & brakes while the car sits to let the fiberglass cure. I'm going...

New N90 wheels going out for paint

I'm dropping off my new Year One 17" N90 wheels for the repaint @ Wheel Collision Center this Saturday. Hopefully I'll have them back in a week or so. I'll post pictures when I get them home. I might even get the tires & have everything on Madge for the pictures! Tommy

    Alloy Wheel refinishers??

Anyone have any recommendations for refinishing my new 17" N90 wheels in the proper gold paint for 1980 Z28? I want to use Wheel Collision Center in PA, but they won't p/u & deliver from a residence & I haven't been able to find a local service shop that uses them. My other option is USA Wheel...

    275/45/17 ??

OK. The test fit for my new 17" x 8" wheels is done. Everything fits around the suspension & now I'm ready to get the wheels painted & order tires. I'm going to go with 245/45/17 on a 5" backspacing for the front, like 35579_bu did because we have the same front suspension. I was going to run...

New Year One 17" x 8" N90 (Monte SS) wheels!!

I gotta get these to replace my OEM N90s so the suspension work I did can be fully utilized. A question for the guys who have 17" x 8" wheels, does 5" or 4.25" back spacing sound right? Those are the two back spacings available. http://www.yearonewheels.com/category.aspx?zcid=735 Tommy

    Courtesy lighting delay upgrade question

Ok, I got a question. I'm sure somebody here has upgraded from standard courtesy lighting to the delay timer setup. Is it a plug & play type of thing? I can get an NOS delay relay for free locally, but looking at the diagrams it appears there's more to it than just plugging the timer in to an...

    Keisler does it again

Shafi just introduced a new dog-ring syncrho 6 speed at PRI. Looks like a great unit, but boy do they beat on the rear end in the video. Clutchless or not, you should still match revs for a down shift. The rear end (& tires) will thank you for it & you'll be about 1000% less likely to spin due...

    17" x 9" with 5" BS

Anyone running 17" x 9" with 5" back spacing on all 4 corners? Year one just announced some new wheels that are visually identical to the 1978-1980 Z28 standard steel 5 spokes. I'd love to get them, but they currently only offer that one size. Tommy

    Sorry, guys!

 I screwed up. After reading some replies to some of my responses to brakes queations I thought that maybe I was remembering things wrong. Well, I was. I got out my GM manuals and started studying the brakes sections once anew. I have edited my FAQ's and recent posts to try to eleminate...
