I seem to remember reading I need a 1 inch setback to keep my trans on the stock crossmember. I want to know if anyone offers these without the mounts. There not for a Malibu anyway.I will have the clamshell mounts.

Can you shim the mounts up to clear? I have also heard of people grinding the holes out on the solid mounst where it goes to the frame elongating the holes then welding thick washers over them to push the motor up slightly to clear things.

Nobody has tried these?

Some minor clearancing would be ok but dont really want to beat them to death.

Does anyone know if the schonefeld street stock 186ls1 headers will fit a g body? Was looking at these to put on my 6.0 in my 81 malibu. I dont have a heater box or a brake booster if that makes a difference. Motor will be positioned to keep trans in stock place or as close as possible.Any help...

Not sure what your plans are for it but i have seen guys use the straight 6 trailblazer converter in these. It will supposedly stall to around 2600 or so and still has stock lockup feature. I thought about doing one in my truck,but have since found a deal on an aftermarket.

Sounds like a solid plan. Any idea on turbo size selection? If you can fit the truck intake without the cover on it you can smooth and paint them and make them look not terrible.The cover over the intake is usually what hits. And the truck intake is better than the ls1.
