    Malibu Racing LIVES!

Every now and then I know it's hard to tell, but I'm still alive & well! Haven't been on the forum much in a few years but I've still got my Malibu. Been over 3 years since I last posted anything. New format looks good.

Sounds like you're talking about a removable harness bar.

    Interior plastic dye/paint source?

As Mike noted there's more than one way to achieve results and often people think their way is best. I do interior restoration and custom work frequently and use the SEM products as well as PPG products. Below is a PPG base with matte clear job. Some parts like the lower dash and lower door...

    DIY vinyl top?

I've done them and will put back the Landau on my bu. Here's a 2nd gen F body I did. The ones with a seam or two are a bit harder because you need to keep the seams straight/centered/even etc.

    Help with starting system

Check to see if you're getting power at the starter through the purple wire when you turn the key to the start position. If not work back to the neutral safety switch and see if you get power there when turning key to start.

    Cooling Issue!!

Have you verified that the fans are not working against each other? Have you verified that the fans are making the air flow the correct direction? When you stop & let it cool are you leaving the engine running and it cools or are you shutting it off? Have you verified the temps with a heat gun...

78-81 transam brake setup. will it work?

Is this for your wagon with BBC? The TA discs will not give you a noticeable improvement over a good rear drum setup. The only possible slight benefit would be if you were going to use the car for auto X or mild road track duties. 2nd gen TA guys have been doing the swap for years, I considered...

please answer this question? WTF is this

Deck filler panel, and used OEM is all I ever found. There's also a piece of sheet metal with the grain of vinyl to match the Landau top stamped in it if you're replacing the top. It gets painted the top color.

    Headers & paint

I've been building an 83 Monte the past couple weeks and saw this thread before work today. Today happened to be header day among other things. Wire wheeled all the rust and shot them with Rustoleum BBQ flavor. After a couple hours of drying time installed them. Will go over them with wax &...

    GN hood

I did it but it's not a direct fit. The Buick turbo hood will fit in the opening. You will need to do some creative bodywork to the header because not only do the body lines not line up exactly but the hood will sit higher in the center and back a little compared to a stock hood. Then rear...

I need pics of Pontiac Super Duty type scoop on malibu hood.

Re: I need pics of Pontiac Super Duty type scoop on malibu h If you use a "WFO" or "Blockers" drop base TA air cleaner assembly with a regular 70-76 TA scoop you could get a decent size filter. If you use a "Dude Scoop" taller than stock fiberglass scoop you can get a bigger opening for the air...

    Help, alternator grounded out?

Don't just keep it in mind, install a new fusible link. NOW. It saved you last time from possibly melting wires and you might not be there if there's ever a next time. That piece protects all the wiring (except the battery cable) in your car that has power all the time (even with key off).

proper motor mount positions in frame holes?

Re: proper motor mount oositions in frame holes? Thanks Steve! That was perfect! Just what I needed to confirm my suspicion that the rubber inserts in the frame mounts was what were causing me grief. Got my trusty shoehorn out and fitted it in. Well, mounted clams loose, mounted frame mounts to...

proper motor mount positions in frame holes?

I'm working on a 78 El Camino at the shop doing an engine bay makeover and fixing stuff that was rigged. Motor frame mounts that were in the car were in forward most holes and the clamshell on one side was bent. Holes in old clams were ovalized by whatever hack installed the engine. Have new...

    Rear seat covers

I went to a local upholstery shop and had them order me a vinyl rear seat cover and installed it myself. You can pick the grain etc. to end up with a cover that will match.
