Wont know for jet size until you hook up a wide band. More important are timing adjustment, this might also be the cure for your exhaust backfires on decel. Vacuum advance could help with that.
Something is definately inefficient if your exhaust fills up with gas
Hi prairierodder, I also built my own 9". I am curious about the pinion angle you got with those upper control arm mounts. I had to cut mine and reweld before i got a satisfying 2.5deg. mine sit lower and maybe farther foward. I am using stock control arms.
And what brakes are you running? I...
Its very hard to believe that motor oil would be better then tansmission fluid specifically engineered by manufacturers and oil companys with billions in R&D
5$ a quart for dexron VI synthetic isnt that expensive
Try unpluging different parts while spinning your driveshaft. If everything spins with the drive shaft your problem at the gauge cluster. If nothing spins its your transmission speed sender. Or where ever it stops spinning will be the problem
White wire going to your distributor. (Or the one that isnt pink) thats your tach signal. If you dont have the tach option it would be the unused pin. Assuming you have an HEI
I passed my wires thru the unused pins in the main harness bulkhead, if you dont have the factory terminals you can get by with regular male/female wire terminals but you wont have the tab to hold them in place. In that case you might have to push them in with a small screw driver from the back...
I have been looking for the hard to find j-nuts used to mount the front shock to the lower control arms. I found out that GM still stocks them so I thought I would share the part number for anyone interested.

Vortecs have square exhaust ports but all sbc headers will bolt up. And yes you need a vortec specific intake manifold. Jegs has a decent dual plane for 130$. Make sure you have a coolant bypass from the intake to the water pump IF you don't have a heater
Things to check.
-Do you have the proper drive/driven gear combination?
-is the cable fully engaged in the transmission?
-does the cable rotate freely in the sheathing?
-Is the cable engaged in the gauge cluster?
-do you know that the cluster works?
I am not familiar with aftermarket cruise...
Unless they are 1 piece wheels it can be done. Send your wheels somewhere else if they wont do it. You can find shops specialise in changing barrels and refurbishing multi-piece wheels
Hi, first 15" of vacuum is great! Basically you Will want as Much vac as you can get from tour initial timing. Factory is 8deg on a sbc. But depending on your setup initial timing could be anywhere from 10 to 20. So you need to set intial timing where the vaccum reading is highest.
