Good to hear you found the glass you needed shoedoos.
If anyone else sees this thread and is looking for 2 door glass, I have some in East TN and travel from East TN to Central IA often and may be able to help with delivery in that direction.. Have back glass and 4 door glass as well.
Looks like the part numbers are different lol..
Seriously though, I don't "know" frame differences.
I do have the frame dimension books for most years that cover all models. They show the same front dimensions for all of them. I bought these si that I would know. Obviously these books arent correct.
I agree, once it is correct. I don't see how the 81 Lemans can be different when they used the same doors and fenders as the earlier years. Not saying it is not different, because I don't know for sure.
I tried to get some input with the post below. It would be really helpful to know for sure...
Where could I buy the lengths of window channel?
Also, not to highjack, but can you get the weatherstrip that attaches to the doors?
Thanks...I just bought a 78 Grand Am 4 door and it's kind of breazy inside
ElkySS, Is this the same color blue as their "Light Blue"?
I had to have it custom mixed and put in a spray can. I had to go back for more and the gloss didn't match between batches. I would love to find it already mixed in a spray can. SEM's only has Regal Blue (tto dark) and Wedgewood Blue...
I thought about clear powder coat, but i would have had to grind down and sand the spot welds and all the other grinding marks.
I almost went with an aluminum color, but called back and changed it to semi gloss black.
Thought I'd follow up on this thread.
The guy that does anodizing said that all the steel inserts (~15) would have to be removed from the radiator support.
Plus, the aluminum wire used to weld aluminum has to be a special material or it will turn black. They also said it may turn out blotchy...
Ok, this is what I am going to try. I dropped the support off at the blasters today.
Found someone that does anodizing and will drop it off sometime next week.
They really can't say how it will turn out since they don't know the make up of the aluminum.
Worst case, if it turns out bad, I'll...
Thanks for the info....
I've located someone in my area that can anodize aluminum.
I'll check with them next week.
They also plate pot metal, so I can get a second bid on my head light bezels at the same time. :D
I saw something posted a while back, but can't locate it.
I have an aluminum radiator support that I want to finish and install.
I have a blaster that uses plastic media. I think this will be ok...
I want to clear it somehow, but remember reading that some clearcoats will yellow on aluminum...
Re: G-body headliner windsheild clips- where do you get them
ok, thanks.
Thats probablly why I cant find them. And there is no way to remove them with breaking them.
Guess I'll use velcro or silicone........
Re: G-body headliner windsheild clips- where do you get them
Can anyone locate the clips on the left?
BTW, these are broken. They only come out broken!! The little tab is missing.
Between 45 min and an hour and a half.............
I forget if 79 is like this, but the 84 (Bonneville) you need to drop the steering column to get 1 bolt with a socket. I've collected 3 in the past month.
The 79 will have 2 special 8mm sholder screws on the top side of the dash. I'd keep...
