I seem to recall that there were some posts on this board that showed some repro pieces but I didn't pay any attention at the time, since I didn't think I needed any.
Thought my quarter window trim was pretty sound, that is until I installed a new package tray and touched a piece that crumbled :x
Where can I get some good repro pieces?
thanks guys
When I mentioned the L88 scoop I was thinking of another Vette scoop. Sorry for the mix up. On another forum I saw some pics of what I had in mind.
The car belongs to a board member, drfade27.
See the links below is to pics.
That scoop would be a natural with the Lemans hood...
WOW!
I always had a soft spot for Cougars. My 1st car was a 67 Cougar XR7. I don't often admit it but I used to be a ford man.
They make repros of those. A bolt on like that would be your simplest solution.
Back to 80_Grand Lemans hood issue. I was just thinking that on of the ChooChoo SS bolt on cowl hood scoops might work. As I recall they have a ridge down the middle. It would require some trimming in the front to accommodate the Poncho hump but that should be doable.
That looks like it would work.
That's sorta what I had in mind when I suggested making your own cowl scoop. You would have to taper the sides and weld the front directly to the hood.
A 60s era Vette L88 scoop would be similar. They used them on some Yenkos too. Those Vettes have a...
The hood issue is is part of the reason that I was considering the choo-choo El Camino SS nose. Then I could install a Malibu hood and some glass fenders. That's probably just a pipe dream anyhow. :D
Goodmark sells some.
There was a company that had ads in the back of every issue of Super Chevy or Chevy Hi-Performance. The add said Steel is Real. They are in the midwest, like South Dakota of Iowa. I don't get those mags anymore but if the don't currently advertise there, they ads could be...
The Harwood bump may match pretty well with a Lemans.
I tried the glass scoop on a steel hod with my El Camino and always got hairline cracks after driving it. Since then I would only do a glass scoop on a glass hood of steel on steel.
If you could get a spare Lemans hood, you could cut a...
I was am planning to do the T/A shaker. I have pics of a Lemans where somebody grafted the small sccops of of an early 70s GTO hood.
There was a guy on this forum who was going to have a glass hood made with a cowl scoop But I have yet to hear the results.
A few companies make...
Thanks for the info Scot.
I was just thinking about the peanut today. Its supposed to be a 305 TBI cam. As I understand it the TBI trucks all have flat lifters. Did some of the F-bodies or other cars have roller TBI motors?
What is you opinion of the LT1 cam? A friend has one, new in the box. He bought it when he was planning a stock rebuild on his Camero but went more radical.
Yep, the truck looked like a mosquito fogger. Smoke sneaking out between the manifolds and Y-Pipes was unexpected. Like you said, at least it helped me find one problem. Hopefully its the only on.
Due to unrelated problems I put some Seafoam in my throttle body. and some smoke was coming out between my exhaust manifolds and Y-pipes.
I bought some exhaust doughnuts, shot the studs with WD40 and am letting it soak for a few days. I'll change them and see what happens.
Wish me luck.
