This winter I'm going to frame notch and minitub my 80 malibu. Im currently running a 15 x 8 wheel with a 12 bolt from a 70 Chevelle. With the 15 x 8 wheel I only have about 1/4" between the shock mount and the wheel. I know when I go to the 10" wheel its not going to clear the shock stud. What have the guys that run this setup done? I have thought about going to coilovers but not sure I want the added expense. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Andrew.

If you are running a 70 Chevellw 12 bolt then a 5.5" backspace 10" wide wheel will stick way too far out and cause problems with the fenderlip. I have a 70 Chevelle 12 bolt in my car and I have a 7.5" backspace 10" wide wheel. Fits nice. I did have to relocate the shock mount though. I'll attatch a few pics below.

any reason why you mounted your sway bar that way?

If you are asking in reference to the bar in my picture...It is designed that way. It's not a factory sway bar, it's an aftermarket Suspension Techniques 1 1/8" rear sway bar for a 70 Chevelle that I modified slightly to fit. I had origionally purchased a anti-roll bar because my car was going to be race only, but later decided I was going to be doing a lot of street driving so opted for my current set up. If it doesn't do well at the track then I will then be installing an anti-roll bar anyway, and will just have to deal with it on the street.
