What is the biggest size tire/rim width that can be ran on factory suspension of a 1980 malibu with a 17in or an 18 in rim? thanks, car is in the paint shop and want to have wheels for it when it comes out ! pictures will be posted !

AFAIK, 8" wide rim is as wide as you can go without hitting the sway bar or a-arms. I've got 16x8 IROC's on mine and the tires (245/50/16) do have a VERY slight rub on full lock.
