Yuppers the calculator says I have 280+rwhp on the track and that was my old set up.(I know alot of you wouldnt say big #'s but that's your opinion)

Old Motor
305+0.030"
Keith Black Hyper pistons pn: KB144 comp ratio of 11:1
461 casting heads, w/ 1.90" intake, 1.50" exhaust
ported and polished mildly
stock chambers
Edelbrock Torker I manifold
Holley 650DP non-HP
Comp Cams XE284H
Comp 1.5" roller tip rockers(cheapo's)
Locally made 2800-3200 9" converter
TH350 with stage 1 kit
7.5" GM diff w/ 3.73:1 gears and Eaton posi
26"x8.5" MT ET Drags
Other wise stock
3440lbs with 1/4 tank of fuel and driver(180* depending on how much beer I drank the night before)

best two ET's
13.103 @ 103mph
13.106 @ 103mph

New motor is going to have some changes
12.2:1 comp ratio
1.94 intake valves, deshrouded comb. chambers
larger port work than before
3500+ 8" converter
27"x10.5" MT ET Streets
Drag bags
new springs - front and rear
drag shocks - front and rear
torque straps
launch control system
if all goes well a brand new transmission this winter as well

With tuning with some friends of mine in S,S/S classes I am hoping for some mid or lower 12 second ET's next spring.

I also know of a couple of 305's in S/S that are in the mid 10's in the 1/4 but that is a very very exspensive 305

Thanks for the info!!! What im looking for was about 200 horse till I can get my 350 built. I just want it to be a little quicker. Its the stock bottom end with a little bigger cam, edelbrock intake and carb and a set of headers.

Hey 80 montecarlo you sould probably see a significant improvement with a better intake the old torker did not flow well at all. try a rpm air gap or a weiand air strike you will pick up some torque down low without giving up upper end power on that small of a motor.Just a thought.

I am actually looking for a Air Gap at the moment, I did buy one at the swap meet a couple of weeks ago but it turned out to be a raised port manifold. Once I find the thorn in my side as too why I have a head gasket leak I will be looking for a new manifold again.

200 hp from a 305 shouldnt be to hard. A good set of heads and it will rev like a 350. Look for stock 305 HO heads #416.

alex383 shed this light for me and I'll do the same for you.. My son went 16.70 @81mph in the 1/4 with a BONE stock 84 Grand Prix 305 4bbl. No power brake, no burn out and letting it shift itself.. even has the orig cat converter and single exh. I'm gonna do the Edelbrock Performer set up for him for Christmas. This link below really impressed me with dudes results in a 77 Malibu....
