4-Speed Shifter Distance

I am looking for the stock 4-speed shifter distance from the bellhousing. I am wanting to do a manual swap and all the 5 and 6 speeds have distances for their shifters from the bellhousing, but I don't know what the stock shifter distance was, so I can try to duplicate it. I am trying to do everything in my power to keep my bench seat and need the shifter forward enough to clear.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is not the best picture, but the stock shifter is approximately 13.5 inches from the bellhousing.

hey, thanks a lot. That's what I was thinking. So the front mount T56 shifter position would fit almost perfectly.

Does anyone know of any 5-speed options that will hold up that have a modified shifter position close to that? I know of the TKO series, but any others?

Not so much. Some people will say a "world class t5" but I wouldnt risk it. Get a tko, man.

And, you can run a bench with the 4 speed.

I run a Saginaw four speed with a Hurst shifter for a Saginaw with a bench seat, and it fine. But also they was basically a stock setup.
For Top Fueler asking about bench seat.
Not top fuel option, but I am having fun with it.

Hi There,
Malibu795: AKA Wildman has a T56 in a wagon with a bigblock and if I remember correctly a stock shifter and it does have a bench in it,maybe some creative bending?? I don't remember as I hate to say I was kinda in a hurry when I met him and didn't get to look as good as would have liked to but ask him questions as he's a great guy and likes to share! Here is some creative bending for you.

F-Body T-5 with an S-10 tailshaft/shifter location.

Comes out the same distance as a factory 3-4 speed setup but centered on the trans tunnel instead of off to the side.

Clears the bench.

Yep that's creative alright! One of yours? I was more thinking a T56 Camaro trans with the stock shifting location and maybe bending the shifter forward to clear the bench and then back toward the driver something like the Hurst shifter they made specifically for 55 to 57 Chevys with a Muncie and a Competition Plus and bench seats,Later

Yes one of my old MAlibu's.

Don't forget you could always notch the bench seat.
