So I am buttoning up the LS, and I just got the detent to connect before I can start driving it at least to work.
My question is this, how far does the detent have to be pulled? I can weld a pies on the TB to get it to pull the cable, but it wont be pulled all the way. Would I be wasting time getting it to pull all the way?

All Transmission are diferent especially with the diferent torque diferent engines put out. The best way is to adjust a little at a time and drive the car to see the shift points. You want it to shift from 1st to second between 10-15 mph under normal throttle. A detent cable that is adjusted to tight will cause the transmission to hold the gears longer than needed and may cause damage to the transmission. Good luck.

Here is a pic of the "finished" setup, though, it still needs cleaning up.

Make sure it's adjusted properly or you might smoke a transmission. :-k

It shifts into second at about 10-15 mph(rough estimate, gauge is off) and pulls the detent all the way out. Sound about right?

http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/drivetrain/tvcable.htm is just one of MANY explanations on the adjustment.

I did a Yahoo search for.......700r4 tv adjustment.
