Check around pro-mod. Blower cars rule. A nitorus car hasn't won a national event in TWO years in IHRA. Even so nitrous cars run BIG cid. Blower cars are relatively small in displacement.

as the efi gets more and more sofisticatad and there are more and more capable people arround to tune th engines it is my guess that turbos will overtake the power race...

the reason turbo cars arent winning every class is that turbos are outlawed in many classes and restrictions are put on intake sizes in the rest...

in 1989 BMW won the formula one world championship with a 91.5 cubic inch engine based on a production 2002 1.5L block that made 1200 Hp in qualifying trim.... after thus turbos were banned.... kenny dutweiler came out with a turbo v6 that he campained in the early 90 ies.. it spanked all the blower and mountain motor notrous cars.. till it was outlawed... the fans want V8 roar and not turbo whine...

take the supras.. there are daily drivers that run low 7 second times in a 3.4L inline 6...

or what about the tempest that Nelson racing engines had /has for sale.. it runs 7 seconds flat. and developes 3000Hp on race gas, and it idles and drive on the street....

blowers are outdated.. they look cool, but they rob crankshaft horsepower and are RPM dependent.. turbos are load dependent and can unlike a procharger give full boost from 1800 rpm till redline..

exactly. that's why i convinced my buddy to ditch his 6-71 and get a pair of 58mm snails, and his hp will be nearly double(900+hp vs 550)! can't beat exhaust driven boost!

cuz he's puttin' 'em on a 2 carb tunnel ram, and he wants the wild look with high intimidation factor, ya know, 2 turbos thru 2 intercoolers feeding 2 carbs. impracticality defined, but it'll be cool!

i know what you're saying. i had the same scary thought, so i suggested to him building a common pressure plenum to feed both carbs, that way he can also get away with a single 50mm bov, and those pressure differential bonfires will be kept in check.

Blower vs turbo.

I am curious about one thing. Every turbo car I have seen, takes time to spool up at the line. For bracket racing, are these things effective? I know I have been surprised by the lights more than once.
