80% street, 20% strip. It'll have 9.5:1 CR, 200CC Sportsman IIs w/ 72cc chambers, 2500 converter, 3.42 gear, 28" tall rear tires, TH350, Performer RPM intake, 1 5/8 headers, 2 1/2" exhaust. Some vacuum for accessories / brakes would be nice... I was thinking .520 lift, 236 @ .050, 108 CL. Need some ideas. There are too many choices out there nowdays. Thanks

i would go with something like this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-1107/ and go with a 3500 stall. and you would have a pretty good combo.
Others will have really good ideas aswell.

In my wife's car I tried a comp cams 282s xtreme energy SOLID. She drives it on the street every chance she gets. It's a 383 9.5-1 3500 stall 750 vacuum secondary Holley, 1.94 s/r torquer heads valve heads 3.73 gears on drag radials she shifts at 5700 it runs mid 12's. I'm real happy with it it also has real nice street manners. It might be worth taking a look at.

I've also run the Comp Cams XS282S (solid flat tappet) and it's not horrible on the street in a 383 or larger. Partly becuase the effective duration is a little shorter than the specs would indicate because of the valve lash with a solid cam. Still, it's a bit too aggressive for me. And it really wants more than a 2500 stall converter to work well.

For the street, I like hydraulic cams just becuase of the "set it and forget it" aspect of the valvetrain.

Something like the XE274 hydraulic flat tappet would work well with that combo. Plenty peppy in a bigger cube small block to work with mild stall and modest gearing but nice and choppy sounding at idle.

I have the same set combination as you except I ran vortec heads and I am running the lunati 60103 with 1.6 rockers and the motor seem to have some serous potential if I ever get it tuned properly.

I like the XE274 as well. The set it and forget it feature of hydraulics is appealing. I get plenty of workout with race car maintenance. I'd prefer the wash-and-go approach to street machining. Thanks!

cut the heads and raise the comp to 10.5 ,,due a mild bowl blend to clean up the casting flaws in the int/exh sides of the heads.. Get a 3500 converter..

You will really like a 108* LSA. Depending on where the heads stall out at and/or your shift point you may be able to get away with a little less dur. @ .050 to help out with low rpm street use.
80% street, 20% strip

But you also have to watch how far you cut back on the dur. @ .050 on the street with a healthy motor as this will more than likely run you into possible reversion in the motor.. ;)
