cant get my new VDO electric water temp gauge to work!!!

i have replaced the censor and the gauge is brand new. i let the car warm up and the gauge never moves. but if i ground the wire going to the censor it goes all the way up. what should i do? i suck at electronics!

The gauge is basically an ohmmeter. You've basically found the highest temperature is the lowest resistance already. Are you using the factory sending unit, or one specifically for the gauge? I'm pretty sure not all gauges are calibrated for the same sender, you can't use just any sending unit, it has to be a specific resistance range to be accurate. If it's too high or too low, the gauge will be inaccurate.

huh... i never knew that. i think its the one that came stock. i just ordered the right one. thanks again doober
