if hot tanking it doesn't work you can always try acid. either way its worth the try.

For a $75 454 block I'd give it a try. They sell for $400-500 around here.

It is against federal law to purchase or sell any motor from a cash for clunkers vehicle, as well as, any part of the sealed engine. You can purchase any other part off that vehicle, but the heads and block must be complete.

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but I would hate to see someone show up and demand the block back after you have spent money on it, or worse, see you serve jail time over something so petty.

Sucks, cause I know where there is a 6.0L that still runs, complete with everything. Yeah, it's an 04 crew cab that looks brand new.

I would think that the mains and cam journals would be blued from the heat caused by the liquid silica. Maybe they didn't run it, and it is still salveageable. hopefully the law has something better to worry about

This is just my assumption here but food for thought. Those motors are supposed to be permanently dissabled and disposed of so if we have a person who is not concerned with selling or giving away the motor in spite of the regulations whats to say he dissabled it as he was supposed to? Looks like the guy likes to take risks and shortcuts so perhapse he took some dissabeling risks and shortcuts as well. Seems to me like a one on one conversation with him would be in order before you make the purchase just to determine how dissabled the motor actually is.
