I'm still trying to determine, for sure, that I can swap the manual transmission flywheel from my '79 200 onto an '83/'84 229. That article states the earlier V6s were internally balanced so I would expect so; but has anyone actually done it and lived to tell the tale? =D>

Then I wonder whether the 229's cam timing is much, if any, different from the 200 manual transmission cam. My 200 sure has respectable low-end torque, I'd hate to find my 229 is optimized to make its low-end torque well above 1000 instead of below, where my 200 seems to excel.

When it talks of 'earlier' v6s, it's probably talking about before they switched to one piece rear main seals, etc. in '87 with the small blocks. You'll know for sure when you to to put the flywheel on.
