Dielectric grease

I cleaned up the harness that bolts to the fuse block on the firewall. One of my friends said to put dielectric grease in it before I bolt it back together. He said it would be sealed up since I cleaned all the tar off of it. Another friend of mine told me it would weaken the connection. What have you guys done ??

Can't see how it would weaken the connection, It gets used on spark plug boots.

The grease will help the terminals from getting corroded.

It has the smell and texture of silicone grease. Is there a difference?
