I was wondering if anyone has converted their El Camino to the Monte Carlo SS style? I know the fenders are different from the malibu to the monte but the cutlass fenders look similar as far as the body lines and the flat mating surface where the nose meets the fender..inshort is there any possible way to avoid paying the 1000.00 for the conversion, salvage yard style! thanks, Rudy...

The nose is made for the Malibu/ ElCamino fenders thats why they match up...

It's sort of like the old ad that had a fat guy in a speedo. It said, "just because it fits, it doesn't make it right."
An SS conversion nose fits and makes it right.
Look in the "for sale" forum for a IROC el camino I found on Craigs list.
Proves there's something out there for everyone.

You dont use the GM Monte SS front end. The original Choo Choo conversion parts are made for an El Camino. You can see the kit at Honest Charlies in the vendor links. It aint cheap.

I converted mine with a 86 monte SS nose, the parts were $300 bucks. the hell with $1000, and it looks better.
