i have a proform electric pump on my 408. when i was driving it on the street, it worked as good as my mechanical pump did, but i never took it on any long drives at highway speeds (15-20 min cruises around town at 30-50 MPH). it's great at the track because you can cool the motor between rounds by running your pump and fan for a few mins. the HP gains are debatable. aside from all that, i'd do it just for the looks alone.

I've run a Proform on the street without issues. I've run both Proform and Aerospace at the track without issues. That said, I'd still run an aluminum mechanical on a street car. I've used Weiand Team G pumps and Edelbrocks both, no problems with either.

Use a mechanical if your going to be driving alot on the street. If it's strickly drag go for the electric cause you can cool down while you set or gwt ready to run again.

Edelbrock victor pump for the street. I ran one on my Chevelle. Went to 7500 for many passes.
