i couldn't find a direct answer anywhere else so at the risk of sounding stupid.. how do i find where the timing mark should be on my balancer.. originally when i got the motor back from machine shop there was a thin white line, over the years it dissappeared.. now im left with no mark...

so is there a process to finding out where to put this white line again>?

I assume it is an aftermarket balancer? If not the factory ones usually have a groove in them.

You have to find TDC with a degree wheel, then cut that in half, back it up to that number & mark the balancer for 0*...

Ok I shall give it a shot, thank you

That didn't translate from my brain to my keyboard well. Use a piston stop, rotate the engine clockwise BY HAND, mark the degree wheel where it stops. Rotate conterclockwise, mark the degree wheel, THEN cut the total number of degrees in half & you have TDC/0*
