header to shifter linkage clearnace issues

Hey guys, i have a question, and ive been told its on this site somewhere and i hope someone remembers

for those of you who dont know, i am putting a caddy 500 in my 70 el camino

and well, the header hits the shifter linkage.

i would like to keep a stock look to the car, so keeping it a collum shifter is ideal


i was told that people we talking about a cable operated shifter linkage set up? does anyone recalll?
