this is my first post, I just picked up an 83 wagon with a four bolt 350 and a muncie 4 speed, It has a wicked bad exhaust leak and want to get brand new exhaust and ditch the manifolds. I have spent hours searching the web for headers, but since my car was a factory auto I am worrried a set of headers will hit my linkage on the drivers side? anybody have any ideas, my mechanic says flowtech's make a good product without breaking the bank, thanks for any help guys.

My car is a factory stick. PO said he put a 1/4" spacer between the block and clamshell mount to lift the driver side up enough to clear the Z-bar. He had Hookers on it, not sure what ones. Been a year since it had a small block, but it was close, but didn't hit either....

I have Hedman 68311; they are designed for fitment with manual clutch linkage.

Look at the on-line catalogs, there are some options that don't require modifications.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I really appriciate it. The second issue with this car is the quadrajunk carb. I have been eyeballing the new quick fuel carbs, I have always been a fan of mechanical secondaries, once the exhaust is finished its carb shopping time what are you guys running on your 300-400 horse small blocks?

I am partial to Quadrajets; there is nothing wrong with them.

One of the best all-around-use carb designs ever.

Ok so after alot of phone calls, I think the hooker super comp headers are going to work, the black painted ones are $165 and ceramic coated are almost $400, I am on a budget but don't want rusty headers either. and are the gaskets they come with any good or should I ger a set of copper gaskets, and last thing is do you guys use the hex head header bolts thanks guys.

Skip the header gaskets and run a bead of copper silicone sealant around each port and bolt them on. I'd wrap the tubes to avoid having to eyeball the rust. My .02.
