hello all, I have a 78 Malibu with a 350 and as long as i had had it the distributor had made a ticking sound. so i replaced thE cap and rotor from MSD and MSD street fire wires and new plugs and still makes the sound. My question is, is this normal? Thanks for the help.

my stock distributor makes like a clicking buzzing noise. i assume its just the rotor hitting all the contacts. i think its pretty normal
i had one do the same thing we thought it was the motor it was that loud. pulled it out and spun it, click click click it worked but i replaced it with msd
Had a new Accel dizzy making noise during a cam break-in. Shut it down and pulled it. Found the cam gear roll pin had worked it's way out and about to fall completely out. It hadn't been hitting anything that I could see. Installed a new roll pin and peened the distributor. No problem since and the noise was gone. Just a thought.....

^^^ thats why i threw mine away, incase something like that happened. another distributor is cheaper then a rebuild was my thinking that day lol
