Hood clearance

Just picked up a 78 Malibu and will be stuffing a 468 bbc with dart intake on it, I'm wondering what height I'll need on the cowl hood. Trying to order everything at once and hoped someone had some incite on how far the carb/cleaner sticks above the stock hood line.

I had an RPM on my old 78, with a 6" filter, and 4" hood, had a good amount of room.

all depends on your BBC install; how far back, tall deck/standard deck:
pops has an '85 elco with a BBC standard deck with Edelbrock Victor and 1050 dominator... we had to clearance the internal structure of the 'glass hood for clearance. When shut, you can't tell it was under the knife.
