Just looking at roundabout prices here, maybe a quick rundown of the parts you've used (carb? EFI? headers? mounts? parts for a specific trans setup?). I won't be doing one for a while I figure, and I thought it'd be nice to get some numbers from the guys that've done it so far.

heres a pretty good rundown of what i've gotten into mine:

Engine/transmission (2002 lq9 w/ 4l80e and 65k miles on it) 2300 shipped to the door
transmission crossmember from iceman--169
motor mounts (transdapt) 69
fuel filter from corvette--60
wiring harness and computer reworked-375
random hoses and fittings--150 bucks
airfilter setup--100 bucks
fuel filter/sending unit from a v6 was 275 total...
driveshaft reworked--150

I'd say about 4k there.

I also opted to get the heads ported and polished while they were off and the z06 cam. that was an additional 400-500.

Was it worth it, hell yeah. And now the prices have gone down again on alot of these things, especially the motor. I saved about 600-700 in gas and another 600-800 on "upkeep" items with this motor, and the simplicity of it all in the end was great, plus teh space I saved under the hood...

Ive got at least 5 in mine, maybe closer to 6 in the end.

Motor - $1500 with most of the little stuff
Headers - $800 BRP
Special mcleod flywheel - $400
NEW F-body accessories - $800 (Went about that the wrong way, cheaper options for new stuff these days)
Harness re-work/tune $375
LS6 intake - $350
Oil pan - $250?
New o2's - $170
Air intake - $85'ish
Misc hoses, fluids, wires, relays, fittings - $400'ish

Thats the big stuff...I know im forgetting something though.

If you're on a strict budget and dont mind tackling the harness yourself, id say you could pull it off for $2500-#3000 or so. Thats including getting your fuel system setup. Just a number off the top of my head quick.

I'd be down for attacking the harness, especially if it doesn't affect the price of the motor too much (or was just plain included with the motor). Worst case scenario I could still have it done in the end if I feel in over my head 8)
I am getting ready to start on my buddies harness for his 6.0 swap REALLY soon. Ill try to remember to take pics and whatnot. If you are curious, check out this site: http://www.lt1swap.com

Great info on wiring, even for the LS stuff.

Here's my list so far. I'll start a build thread when I actually get to open the garage door and turn a wrench. Gotta finish my kitchen remodel first to keep the boss happy.

2001 5.3 w/110k on it $400
truck accys and coil packs $200
wire harness and PCM $135
ctsv oil pan $50
trans dapt motor mounts $45
fbody fuel tank/pump/harness $50
fbody manifolds $free

Tune $free
wire harness reworking $free, doing it myself

I *hope* to have right at a grand in mine.

I'm not 100% finished but here's an idea.

-Forged LS1 long block ( I got a killer deal on BTW) $1500
-ebay stainless long tubes $210
-truck intake, fuel rails, injectors, stock throttle body $200
-water pump, alt. crank pulley, truck accessory braket, PS pump $ (+)(-) $200
-ARP crank bolt $25
-engine mount plates $50
-Starter $70
-PCM $100
-Stock truck harness $50
-Flywheel spacer for a SBC coverter in a TH350 $100
-Fuel pump w/ AN fittings and line $300 total
-Add another $200-300 for all of the misc. things I'm leaving out like spark plugs, oil and filter, serp. belt, radiator hoses, electrical wire, bolts/nuts, and whatever else I'm leaving out. :-k

Grand total so far: $2805

I still have to buy a transmission cross member and run my lines, so add another $150-200.

Man, this thread made me realize just how much I have in this junker LOL. Of course, I'm leaving out all the $ spent on wheels/tires, suspension, and paint and body.
