Turn the steering wheel straight. Disconnect the wires on the column. Leave the two bolts in. Remove the steering shaft bolt in the engine bay. Remove retaining clip and washer from steering shaft behind brake Booster. Remove bolts from the firewall. Remove the vent panel under steering column. Remove the two bolts holding the colum. Pull out and to reinstall is reverse of removal.

Don't forget to remove the shift indicator cable from the column. Do it right after you remove the under column trim piece so you don't forget. If you don't you'll either break the cable or indicator needle when the column comes down.
I like to remove the wiring after lowering the column..I find it easier to access.
