I HAVE A 496 BBC WITH A 10.25:1 COMPRESSION HYDRAULIC LIFTER CAM .576 LIFT AND 246 DURATION. I NEED A CONVERTER THAT WILL WORK WITH MY 400 TRANS. tHE CONVERTER I HAVE NOW IS JUST OVER STOCK AND IT PULLS THE CUTS OFF WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR. PLEASE HELP ASAP.
You need more stall if your cam has too much duration and over lap (both vavles open at the same time. The engine does not create enough vacuum to keep the car running under load. The converter supplies the slip needed at low engine speed to let the load off the drive line till your engine works up in the rpm range. OR if you do not have a big cam the converter locked and welded it self and you will need to go through the whole transmission if that is the case.

Calling a converter shop will help BUT please have alot of info for them. specs of cam intake carb anything else you can think of the more the better. Then they can help you better.
