Hey guys i have a bowtie vortec headed 180cc, 10.25:1 compression, 242/242 @.050 530/530 108hyd roller, 350 chevy with an hei.

Im gonna start it tomorrow, What intial timing should I run it at? I was thinking 14 for break in and 18 after?

What total timing? I head the vortec like less timing like around 30 degrees?

I heard the vortec heads like around 32 degrees total. That is the recomended total timing for the 350 HO I put in for my friend. It has Vortec heads. With your cam 18 degrees initial should be fine even for break in.You will probably be lucky and at 18 initial the HEI will only advance to 32. Or you can just weld the slot in a bit if it goes past 32.
