So far I am very interested in running either the Lunati Voodoo series 60102 (262) or 60103 (268). I'd rather run the 60103, but do not know if my set up will match this camshaft. The car will see little time at the drag strip, but I do plan on going to a few autocross events.

-1980 malibu, 3200 lbs.
-350 standard bore
-882 heads, 2.02/1.60 valves, right around 9.0 CR
-1.6 stamped steel rockers
-Flat top KB Hyper pistons
-Flowtech full length headers w/ 2.5 inch exhaust, flowmaster 40's, and H-pipe
-Edelbrock performer intake
-Option of either edelbrock 600 or carter competition 750 carb
-Aftermarket HEI distributor (40k-60k volts)

-700r4 built to 550hp specs and trans go shift kit
-2000 stall
-86' monte ss rear end, auburn posi w/ 3.73 Yukon gears

The heads I have came from a seller on ebay and they were fully built with screw in studs, guide plates, and bigger springs that I'm sure can handle .550 lift. I am unsure of how much they were machined and all I can say is the motor only likes 93 octane gas and won't run as well on any other octane. I plan on doing a compression test on all cylinders tomorrow to help give me an idea of where I'm at.

Any opinions on Lunati's camshafts and other recommendations are much appreciated.

Little update to better my options on a camshaft. Went back to my local shop and swapped in the new 2000 stall for a Pro Street Dacco 2300-2500 stall.

Any opinions? Not gonna hurt my feelings :-({|= dancin_banana.gif

There are lots of Comp XE268's in use. I don't have much practical experience with the Lunati, but IIRC the Voodoo series is a similar concept to the XE series.

They were both designed by Harold Brookshire. He started at Ultradyne cams then later went over to comp cams and designed the high energy and xtreme energy line of cams. After leaving comp cams, he went over to lunati and designed an even better line of cams known as the Voodoo cams. According to him, the voodoo line uses the most aggressive ramps and closes the valves more gently than the xtreme energy cams, thus increasing valvetrain life. When Harold compared his Voodoo line against its XE counterparts, the Voodoo series beat XE cams in almost all trials.

Yes, in a way I did answer a part of my question.

It's a toss up between the 60102 and 60103 cams. I really want to run the 60103 cam, but I'm sitting at roughly 8.8 to 9:1 compression. I have the correct stall for the camshaft, but am not sure if my compression will cause any issues. Anyone know what compression the voodoo 268 likes to operate at?

I called Comp today and they recommended the XE268. Lunati won't be open until monday so I'll have to wait till then to get their recommendation.

Not too sure on the Lunati line I have been avid Comp Cams guy for as long as I can remember. I run a Comp Cams 292h grind good lift and works out great when matched to an Edelbrock Victor Jr intake cam and intake power band both come in around 3000 rpms and with 2800 stall converter and 350 manual valve body I also run 1.52 roller rockers the combo works out well ....
