LS1 brake swappers, I have a question (machining & fit)

Well I've finally gotten around to machining down my rotors from my '79 malibu making them into hubs, however I noticed the LS1 rotor doesn't sit against the old mounting face. Also towards the base of the hub the circumference is larger then the opening in the LS1 rotor, it appears to me this is where the rim centers up on the old rotor (hub centric right?). So I started to machine this down to allow the LS1 rotor to sit flat on the hub, the concern I have with that is now I have a sharp radius where the nose of the hub meets the mounting face. Also the base of the nose where I machined isn't 100% concentric now...it doesn't center the rotor on the hub now.

What I'm asking is 1)for those of you who bought hubs (that were once rotors) does the new rotor sit flush against it. 2) Should I be concerned with the sharp radius at the base of the nose on the hub? 3) Now that it appears the hub no longer centers the rotor will this be a problem?

If pics are need to help clarify LMK and I'll get some, thanks for any help.

i just did mine last weekend. my rotors centered up perfect on my hubs. do you maybe have the odd ball rotors with the diffrent bearing size. i thought they came on the 78s

If it's a '79 there's a chance they may have been using what they had left of the '78 spindles/rotors, though I'm not positive. I wouldn't think it would affect the outside dimension where the rotor slides on though, even if the bearing was a different size.

My rotor also had a bevel on the inside. Not sure if they were stock or after market. Do yours have a bevel on the inside where it centers on the hub

The problem ended up being that I didn't put a chamfer on the face of the hub which didn't allow the rotor hat to sit against the hub. It fits fine now, though I do need another original rotor to make into another hub since I turned down the centering feature on the nose of the hub...live and learn. Thanks for the help guys.
