I will be getting my lq4 pretty soon and I have a couple of questions. I wanted to know whats the difference between a ls1 and a ls6 intake, what are some good heads that I can go with, and I'm not sure what cam to go with either.
Also, when changing the intake I would have to use a f-body water pump as well correct. Which means I would be looking for a power steering pump, brackets, and a alt. from the same f-body? It will be for a daily for the summer some track runs(every blue moon ) which is a regal with a 700r4, 3400 stall(I think :-k ), 8.5 with a 3.73 gear.

Thanks for all your help

243s were on LS6 engines, LS2s, and I beleive some 5.3s. If I remember correctly the 243 is the same as the 799 casting. Z06s had lightweight valves and better, yellow valve springs.

The difference in the intakes is the flow. The LS6 is probably good for a decent gain vs the LS1. Visually, they look identical. The main difference is the bottom of the intake. The LS6 is perfectly flat, whereas the LS1 has a hump.

You will have to use either car accessories, or do the water neck mod and relocate a couple things. Just Google truck accessories with car intake. There is a thread on LS1tech, but its probably not on the front page.

Thanks for the info, i'm looking for fbody stuff now. I see you have brp headers aren't they the hedman headers? One more question for you did you have a ctsv pan that you didn't need?

The LS6 intake flows better than the LS1, but I wouldn't pay a substantial amount for one, maybe less than $300 would alright, any more and I would go with a good used aftermarket or save up 200-300 more for a new one. FAST intakes are expensive, but I have seen people selling them used for around $700-800 on LS1tech before. And that's with the fuel rails and possibly the throttle body as well, but a ported stock one would suffice.

Just my $.02

Lt1_Malibu your .02 cents helps a lot. I have been looking @ the L92 heads and a intake from a 11 camaro. The intake I can get for $210 shipped with injectors maybe the rail but no tb, is that a good price?

Yeah, that's pretty cheap actually.

Don't pay an arm and a leg for L92 heads if you find a used set. You can nab 5.3 stage 2.5 heads off of LS1tech or a set of CNC 243 heads all day and for much cheaper then it takes to get them and send them out.

I'm not 100% on it, but aren't ls1/2/6 intake runners different from the L92, LS7/3 runners? I'm thinking the L92 stuff is rectangular port and the genIII runners are cathedral port.
