Do the straight up ones put the back face of the LS motor in the same place as the stock SBC, or the front or what?

I can't remember off the top of my head, but mine are pretty close. My suggestion is to buy the adjustable ones from a company like edelbrock so you can slide it forward or backward up to 1".

Old style chev engine with distributor = bellhousing flange to lower bolt on block for clamshell measures 16"

LS engine bellhousing flange to lower front bolt on block measures 15"

The straight up ones will give you a 1" gap between the trans and the bellhousing flange on the LS block.

peace out
