I'm looking to replace the turn signal lever in my '81 Malibu Wagon. The previous owner just put in a beat up lever with cruise control and wiper options, which this car does not need to have on the lever. I'm trying to find the correct plain lever to use that doesn't have any features. I'm not sure if this steering column is original to the car or not. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Beat up lever that came out of the car:

I was thinking that this is it, but I'm not too excited about spending $70 on one. Can anyone confirm this is correct? If so, do you know where I can get a less expensive one?

Yes sir that looks like the one. Price does seem a little steep but then I've noticed their pricing always does.

I'm pretty good at scouring the internet, but damn that is one hard to find part. That's literally the only place I can find one. None of the restoration shops even seem to have them.

Anyone want to hook me up with a decent used one?

I know I didn't do it and I'm sure it's out of a Gbody but I didn't think they were screw in?

It looks to me like sumthin funny (not ha ha) is goin on there!! I think someone has put a later model steering column in your car,
I don't think you can put a normal 78 to 81 turn signal lever in that big ol hole without making some sort of bushing for it,that lever you show is for an 82 and later when they moved the wiper switch off of the dash, the lever O.D. has is the right one except like he said someone threaded it,as much as I hate to say it you're either going to have to get another wiper switch lever or get the one O.D. has and use part of the lever you have and fashion some sort of adapter bushing or get the correct steering column and switch it out,By the way what I can see of your interior looks real Nice!! Good Luck! KillerDave

You're right KillerDave........won't fit.
Just tried fitting a lever from an '83 G body into my '79 column - no go. Never realized they weren't the same size.

So, you guys don't think the ebay one will work? It looks like it has the same end on it as the wiper version that I took out of there. I suppose I could get a new arm with the wiper function, but I'm not happy about it.

If it will work, I figured I would just find one in a junkyard. There's no way I'm paying $70 for a turn signal lever.
