Pics with 295s on 8" rally's???

Wanna go with a fat tire out back, but don't want to notch, mini tub or roll the lip. Car is clean, don't want to cut it up. Not gonna be lowered either.

Love the way these cars look with the vette rally's, gonna go with the chrome then paint the inside silver so don't have to worry bout the trims rings. I wanted the 295/50/16s, but think that is gonna be too big, in less someone can prove me wrong??

With either the 15" or 16", b/s should be right around 4" to keep it in between the frame and the lip, but thinking it's gonna be real close with the 295/16s....

Anybody have any pics of said size?? Looked around and searched, nada....

I had to roll the lip on my 81 Malibu to run 295/50/15.

Really? Didn't think that tire was much wider than a 275, they fit fine..

You may not be able to safely run a 295 on an 8" wheel if you're running lower than a 50 series. A 295/50 15 has a minimum 8" wheel requirement. A 45 series tire is 9", 40 is 10"...

Didnt plan going any less than a 50 series. I had a set of 295/50/16s on 8" wheel and didnt buldge too bad. Never ran them, had them on a 2wd S-10 blazer, tires didnt look very big in the wheel wells.

But, i have time to figure out what i'm gonna run for wheels. But pretty sure gonna go with newer zq8 wheels with 245s up fron and 255s out back. Wanted a little taller tire than the 255s, oh well..

At one point I found some pics of 295s on rally's, now I can't find them again. I searched the web, different search engine and still doesn't come up with much. I searched here and 295/50/15 doesn't come up with anything. I bought a set of 7s and 8" rally's today, so will be running these. I want a fat tire out back, reason I ask about the 295s.

Finally got the car, got the 295/50s mounted and put on the car. Wanted 215/65s up front, but they didn't have any so went with 235/60s instead.

Suspension on the car is stock, rims are stock Vette rally's with 4' b/s. I have little more than 1/4" of room on the inside, but might have to roll the lip some to keep from hitting from bumps and lard asses in the back seat....

The one on the roof was on the car when I bought it but it's junk. The previous owner let someone test drive the car, pulled the hood release instead of the brake, then shifted into second gear and floored it. The scoop part of the hood when thru the windshield, ripped the mounts off the hood. Might be usable as a pin on....

With 295s on an 8-inch wheel, you will have to run lower air pressure to prevent wearing out the center of the tire, and to ensure you have a good contact patch. You may need to test by running through water at different pressures until you see a normal contact patch.
