Problems with setting up rear end (pinion angle)

I have an early made DTS 12-bolt for a g-body in my car.Iceman double adj. lowers,older TRZ double adj.uppers.I'm having a problem getting the pinion angle set.It has 29.5-10.5 Mt's,I set the lowers up so I have 1-1/8in of space between the front wheel opening and the tires.Is that enough? Then when I go to set the pinion angle,The uppers don't seem like they are long enough,more then an inch of threads out of the adjusters and rod ends to get -3 pinion angle.Any sugestions??I'm I doing something wrong here??Thanks

Had my buddy add an inch to the upper control arms.
