i have an 81 malibu, and am wanting to go with the s&w racecars back half kit, however i'm not too sure which size springs to get. i'm just curious as to what some of the other guys with coilover rears went with.

Call the folks at S&W. They've done a LOT of G Body backhalves. Figure on 110# adjusted up or down depending on weight.
The rear Hotchkis springs are 150#, if that's any help... probably a little softer for a race setup.
