I would run a thermostat with bypass holes drilled in it. I have one in my Chevelle right now. Restrictors will do the same thing, but its hit and miss to find the right size. I have a pack that I never opened because I didn't want to bother filling and draining and changing if it was the wrong size.

I ran a t-stat when I had a mechanical pump. when I changed to an electric water pump, I took the internals out of the t-stat and put the tin shell of it back in as a restrictor.

Always have run a gutted t-stat with my electric pump. Last spring I noticed it sitting on the cowl after buttoning up the motor. Too lazy to drain water again, didn't seem to make much difference.
